Maurizio Malagnini | Arranging & Composing | ICMP London

​Maurizio Malagnini is an award-winning composer in the field of television and cinema. A Masters graduate from the Royal College of Music, he has written music for several highly successful series and films, broadcast in 132 different territories. Dominic Walker, commercial director at BBC Worldwide, has called him a “creative genius”.

Maurizio has produced his scores for the Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, L'Ensemble dell'Opera di Roma, and his own ensemble, Cinema Paradiso. In 2005 he studied at Accademia Chigiana where he was awarded the Emma Contestabile Award by Oscar winning composer Luis Bacalov. Since moving to the UK, he has has collaborated extensively with MTV and his compositions have been synchronised into adverts for major brands such as Miller, X-box 360, Fiat, and Samsung. He scored the successful BBC series, The Paradise, Muddle Earth, The Body Farm, and Call the Midwife, winning awards at the International Music + Sound Awards and a nomination for Outstanding Original Music in a Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards.

More recently, Maurizio composed the epic full orchestral score for a two-hour drama for ITV, Peter and Wendy, based on J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan novel. The success of these recent projects has resulted in Maurizio winning the title of ‘Breakthrough Composer Of The Year’ from the International Film Music Critic Association in 2016.
