Music courses online that suit your lifestyle!
If you’re after a more flexible approach to learning, then ICMP’s Introduction to Blues Rhythm Guitar and Introduction to Songwriting course allow you to fit study around your life, at a time convenient to you. We offer two unique study routes; you can either study completely online with access to a dedicated ICMP tutor to support your learning, or, our blended study option mixes online study with the opportunity to attend live workshops right here at ICMP London.
Regardless of which study route you take, these two online music course options are a great opportunity for those with busy lives who can’t commit to a full-time course but still interested in exploring music in their own time, either through distance learning, studying in the evenings or weekends, or maybe during a gap year break from traditional music study.

Blues Rhythm Guitar Lessons
The Introduction to Blues Rhythm Guitar course combines online theoretical learning of the blues genre with practical knowledge which will help you to play blues riffs, fills and chords, develop a blues solo and perform as part of a blues band. The format consists of comprehensive video lessons and includes backing tracks, detailed notes and notation for you to keep. You’ll receive weekly feedback from an experienced ICMP guitar tutor who’ll help to accelerate your blues guitar technical skills. And if you choose the face-to-face tuition option, you can attend three performance workshops at ICMP in London too. The course is open to anyone with a minimum of six months’ playing experience who can already perform a selection of basic chords and licks.
Introduction to Songwriting
Our songwriting classes cover songwriting techniques and an introductory breakdown and analysis of songwriting content, style, genre, song structure, harmony, melody, creating arrangements and lyric writing. You’ll be set weekly tasks by your expert ICMP songwriting tutor to help translate the theory you learn into practice, and you’ll receive constructive feedback on all your video submissions. If you choose the face-to-face tuition option, you can attend three songwriting workshops at ICMP London, and regardless of which route you take you’ll continue to have access to all online content when you finish your course. No previous experience is required to access the course and it’s open to absolute beginners with a passion for songwriting.
Study at your own pace
ICMP’s online music courses allow you to expand your musical knowledge at a time and pace which suits your existing commitments, whether that includes work, travel, family life or more. Our flexible approach is suited to those looking to study during periods which may differ from the traditional times contemporary music classes are available, such as in the evenings or at weekends. Our online delivery system is great for anyone wishing to undertake distance learning, and you’ll have the option to repeat any lessons or access your course materials at a later date too.
Learn from the best
ICMP’s music courses online are taught and supported by the same highly esteemed tutors who teach our full-time courses. They’re all experienced musicians who’ve shaped the face of the music business across their careers, and are ready to inspire, energise and pass their extensive knowledge of the music industry onto you. They’ll work hard to support and encourage you throughout your online learning journey, and if you decide to visit ICMP to take part in our live music workshops, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn from them in person, gaining important feedback and advice along the way.
