Sam Router has label experience working in A&R, sales, digital, marketing, licensing, production, commercial affairs and synchronisation.
Having originally graduated from Durham University and worked at US investment bank Morgan Stanley, Sam changed career to move into the music industry and enrolled at BIMM in 2012 to study Cert HE Professional Musicianship on Guitar. This gave him a platform to work for Universal Music at the UMC label for several years before moving on to set up his own business as a music industry strategy consultant.
As a UMC A&R Manager at Universal Music he has directly worked on or managed catalogue releases for The Who, Elton John, The Killers, The Kooks, Chase and Status, Stereophonics, The Fratellis, James Morrison, Laura Marling, Chvrches, Meat Loaf, The Carpenters and Nick Drake. He also worked with Team GB, The Professional Darts Corporation and The V&A Museum on developing their music partnership with Universal Music. As a Strategy Consultant for Universal Music he has worked on wide reaching commercial projects with Amazon, UMC and Universal Music International Commercial Affairs on a global scale.
Still a passionate guitarist and songwriter Sam continues to write, record and release music as well as work within the music industry. At ICMP he is taking care of the Professional Projects on our BMus (hons) Popular Music Performance degree.
