Auditions can often be nerve-racking and make you think of standing in front of a panel of tough judges… but that’s not us!

At ICMP, your audition is just you and a tutor of your discipline, one-on-one. Our tutors are highly experienced in what they do and well equipped to help you get through.

Your audition should take between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the course you are auditioning for.

If you're an instrumentalist we encourage you to bring your instrument with you, simply because that's what you'll feel most comfortable with. We do however have a range of instruments available if you need one. Our dedicated audition rooms are equipped with full backline, mics, playback devices and drum kits - drummers are only required to bring sticks.

Songwriters and music production applicants, if you are showcasing your tracks via MP3, USB, or an online service (Soundcloud/Spotify or YouTube), please test these prior to your audition to ensure they work.

Preparing for your audition

Naturally, you will want to prepare for your audition and we want to help you there too.

Below, you'll find a series of videos offering audition guidance for each area of study at ICMP. We've also produced guidance documents for you to download that reiterate the information within our videos. Please take the time to go over this material to ensure you know what to expect and feel best prepared for your audition.

For those of your auditioning remotely, please note we've created additional guidance for students auditioning via Skype.

Of course, if you have any questions or concerns about preparing for your audition our Admissions team are always on hand to help. The  Team are available on 020 3820 3399, via email enquiries@icmp.ac.uk or using our Live Chat.

What happens after my audition?

After your audition, one of our Admissions Advisors will speak with you about your audition so you can get some instant feedback on how you performed, and find out what happens next. This is also your opportunity to ask us questions about the college, the courses, and anything else you would like to know. For those who haven't visited ICMP previously, at this point we'll also offer to show you around our facilities to allow you to get a sense of where you will be studying.

Our aim is to make sure that by the time you walk out that door, you have all the information you need.
