Increased internet bandwidth
We’ve made significant enhancements to the technical infrastructure at ICMP, ensuring a better online experience once you arrive on campus. Our improvements include an increase in the capacity and bandwidth of our internet service provision – ten times what we had previously – as well as increased capability across our local networks. These upgrades will make sure you receive excellent connectivity in all corners of the ICMP building.
Faster and stronger Wi-Fi
We've also reviewed our Wi-Fi network capability to capitalise on this increased bandwidth, so you’ll have a quicker, stronger, and more stable Wi-Fi connection across campus. We’ve made digital upgrades to many of our learning spaces, such as performance rooms, tech labs, lecture rooms, communal spaces and the library, to enable you to engage in effective distance learning on campus… as well as when studying at home online.
Access to pioneering new learning platforms
We’re giving you access to extra technology and innovative new resources to enhance your learning experience. Packages and platform improvements that you can take advantage of include:
Open Athens – access ICMP’s digital textbooks easily and securely from home with Open Athens’ single sign-on single-password authentication system. We’re currently reviewing our core module textbooks with the aim of supplying them all in electronic form.
Canvas – our central learning environment for all educational activity at ICMP, whether you’re learning via distance or face to face. We’re enhancing Canvas with increased accessibility and inclusivity features, so it’s more intuitive, easier to use, offers a smoother user experience, and includes more learning content than ever.
Our state-of-the-art digital ecosystem
Our comprehensive digital environment has been specifically designed so you can access resources and information, communicate with students and tutors, and study online seamlessly. Support your learning with these innovative digital tools:
ICMPLife.com – our student and alumni social platform. Access it to find jobs, industry opportunities, social networking, mentoring, and event information.
SLLS – our library platform. Access online textbooks, journals, and the Rock’s Backpages digital library of pop music articles.
Quercus – our student information system is the place to access your personal records, request letters and academic records.
Microsoft 365 – this bundle of digital services hosts your email, online storage, file-sharing capabilities and more.
MyICMP – our information archive, offering guidance on facilities, procedures, policies, regulations and more.
Celcat – our timetabling software. Use it to check rooms and timetables, and book resources when you need them.
Student Helpdesk – report problems, book equipment and request support across a wide range of issues.
