Whether you want to create music, play, perform, teach the next generation or move into music production or management, we’re here to support and encourage you.

We take great pride in the success that ICMP graduates achieve, and we know that key to this success is our unrivalled network of music industry connections.

Creating opportunities through innovative professional partnerships

At ICMP, we work tirelessly to seek out new partnerships that connect our students and alumni to today’s flourishing professional music scene, plugging ICMP into the heart of the industry regardless of whether you’re studying music in Leeds, Liverpool or London.

Throughout the year we open our doors to labels, publishers, booking agents, A&R and artist managers, all with the express intent of building our students’ connections. Alongside welcoming industry professionals onsite, we also actively partner with companies and organisations throughout London, Liverpool and Leeds, and the wider music industry.

These partnerships offer ICMP students unique and exclusive opportunities to engage with the music industry, building their networks alongside some of the industry’s biggest names.

ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT MUSIC (AIM)
Our partnership with AIM aligns ICMP with the ever-growing independent music sector. This partnership offers ICMP the opportunity to connect with organisations and professionals who are part of the 900-strong community which AIM represents. Most ICMP students begin their journey independently, building and growing their career and teams to maximise their effectiveness and engagement. The resources AIM provides can be a significant and important support to this growth.

MUSIC MANAGERS FORUM (MMF)
The MMF is the world’s largest professional community of music managers. Since its inception in 1992, the MMF has worked to educate, inform and represent UK managers while also offering a network through which they can share experiences, opportunities and information. The forum’s membership now stands at more than 1,500 managers based in the UK, alongside international businesses and a wider network of more than 2,700 managers globally. ICMP has worked with the MMF to host their training sessions and provides a base to run their Accelerator Programme for Music Managers, in conjunction with YouTube, from during the summer. Having a consistent presence of proactive artist, producer and writer managers onsite at ICMP creates further awareness of the breadth of talent at the school and the symbiotic work undertaken by ICMP in the world of music education.

MUSIC ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP (UK MUSIC)

ICMP are proud to be a UKMusic MAP partner. MAP is a ground-breaking collaboration between educational institutions and the membership of UK Music. Its focus is on linking industry and academia more effectively to:

  • Nurture collaborative projects such as research and careers events; inform and engage with the next generation of industry professionals
  • Develop expert knowledge-base to feed into education and skills policy work
  • Provide individuals who want to build careers out of their passion for music with extra opportunities

Businesses in today’s modern industry are looking for an extremely qualified and skilled workforce to support music talent. MAP provides links and experiences that will help the employability of the students. MAP partners are future-proofing the music industry by ensuring new entrants have the right mix of experience and skills needed.
