Brit Award and MOBO nominated rock band Nova Twins’s Amy Love and Georgia South have been named as Ambassadors for our brand new Creative Musicianship Scholarship.
The scholarship is now open for applications and will cover the cost of undergraduate tuition fees of one UK-based home fee status student or one international student for the entire three years of our BA (Hons) Creative Musicianship degree commencing September 2023.
Amy Love, Nova Twins’ Vocalist/Guitarist, said: “This is the perfect opportunity for us to share what we’ve learned from our musical journey and inspire the next generation of musicians.”
Being given an opportunity can make all the difference and certainly, if it wasn’t for the opportunities we’ve had, then Nova Twins wouldn’t exist as we do today. To be involved in an initiative that can help someone who either has a musical gift or is an amazing talent who perhaps can’t afford to make music their career, that’s really important to us and why we’re supporting this brilliant initiative.”
The initiative has been created to offer an opportunity to anyone passionate about creative musicianship who might be unable to consider Higher Education as part of their career.
Applicants are invited to submit their own music alongside a short video of themselves explaining their musical aspirations and what winning the scholarship would mean to them. Entries will then be judged by an expert panel featuring Nova Twins, Ace, ICMP's Head of Industry Partnerships and Business Development alongside other education and industry experts.
ICMP’s Ace: “We’re made up that Nova Twins are now Ambassadors for BA Creative Musicianship Scholarship. The band have earned plaudits from fans and critics with their amazing, genre-blending music as well as using their voices to push genuine change within the music industry around diversity, inclusion and the narrative around Black music.’
“They are an inspirational tour de force and we’re delighted that they are taking the time to head up this initiative.”
Nova Twins are one of the UK’s most exciting new rock bands, having formed back in 2014 and released two albums to date with the latest, 2022’s ‘Supernova’, earning them two Brit Award nominations and a Mercury Prize nomination. The pair’s fusion of punk and grime has been critically acclaimed, earned them plaudits from Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello among others and see the band successfully advocate for a new Alternative category to be created at the MOBO Awards.
All Scholarship applicants need to submit their music by midnight on Sunday 30th July 2023 to be in with a chance of winning the scholarship. The Scholarship place will be awarded on Monday 14th August 2023 with the successful applicant contacted shortly after.
Applications are now open for the 2024 Nova Twins Scholarship!
