ICMP at Music Festivals 2023
Find out where ICMP students, alumni and tutors are playing this festival season...
The UK is now in music festival season meaning many members of ICMP’s community of students and alumni will be busy performing in the great outdoors over the coming months.
Music festivals are brilliant not only for music fans but for performers and artists looking to hone their skills, find an audience and develop their sound.
Check out where our students and alumni are performing this year in our list below…
Clean Bandit
Clean Bandit, featuring ICMP Drum graduate Luke Patterson, are one of the biggest pop acts in the UK with four number one hits and ten top 10 tracks on the UK Singles Chart to their name. They’re at an array of festivals this summer including the Doncaster Racecourse in July and Crix in Chelmsford in August.
VC Pines
VC Pines, known as BA Songwriting alumnus Jack Mercer, was previously frontman of The Carnabys but has since been enjoying success as a solo artist.
With a debut album due for release later this year and a tour planned, you'll also be able to watch him at the Glastonbury Music Festival and https://boardmasters.com/artist/vc-pines/Boardmasters this year.
The Vaccines
The Vaccines, featuring BMus Popular Music Performance Bass degree graduate Arni Hjorvar Arnason, formed in 2010 and have since become a huge UK success story with their energetic take on indie rock.
Their new album 'Back in Love City' was released in 2021 and they’re playing many different festival shows this summer.
Moncrieff

ICMP alumna Moncrieff has performed with Adele and impressed greats like Elton John and Avicii with his songwriting and his debut single ‘Warm’ was an instant hit.
You'll be able to catch him at Barn on the Farm this June.
Gabi King

BMus Popular Music Performance Drum alumna Gabi King has spent much of the year touring the UK and Europe as drummer and percussion with Matt Healy’s 1975. Previously, she’s toured extensively with Declan McKenna too so has plenty of experience on the road. You can catch the 1975 in arenas across the world during the rest of the year…
Julia Lamb

As bass player with Tom Grennan, the BBC Music Introducing's Artist of the Year 2018, Julia has helped power Tom and his indie swagger to the top of tastemaker tip lists, all achieved while completing her studies with us at ICMP.
She will be performing at Glastonbury with Tom alongside a host of other festival events this summer.
Saint Boy

Saint Boy are made up of Saskia (Sassy) Hammersley, Beatrice (Bea) King, and Oscar-John (Oscar) Wilson who all studied ICMP's BA Songwriting degree together.
This London-based indie group have been making waves and turning heads with their catchy tracks, including most recent release, 'Sinners and Saints'.
Bear's Den
Bear’s Den (featuring ICMP graduate Andrew Davie performing on lead vocals and guitar) have been an ongoing success story in British music with a series of acclaimed albums, big tours and performances to their name.
The band's summer schedule of tours will see them performing at Standon Calling, Boardmasters and a number of events across Europe.
King No-One

King No-One feature ICMP's Masters in Songwriting alumna Zach Lount as their frontman and are an ambitious rock band from York.
The group have been getting plaudits from Tom Robinson and BBC Introducing and you can catch them performing at festivals including Truck, the Bingley Weekender and 110 Above this summer.
Matt Maltese

Singer, songwriter and pianist Matt Maltese studied on our BA Creative Musicianship degree and ended up signing a deal with Atlantic Records back in 2017. He has subsequently taken a more independent career route and continued to release brilliantly idiosyncratic music.
You can catch him in the US this summer playing a host of festival shows.
James Rees

James Rees is ICMP’s BA Creative Music Production Programme Leader and works as an artist alongside his academic role.
He released a new EP, 'Normal People' earlier in the year and will be performing at Glastonbury.

Pynch

Indie rockers Pynch feature an array of ICMP talent including alumni Spencer Enoch (MA Songwriting), James Rees (MA Songwriting), Jacob Theato (BA Creative Music Production) and Julianna Hopkins (BMus Popular Music Performance).

Girls Of The Internet
Known for eclectic disco inspired house music both behind the decks and in the studio, the band have been playing around the world over the last months at festivals and much more. The band consists of two ICMP Alumni - @bmwomansound and @vanya_lyma. Most recently they hit Glastonbury on the Greenpeace Field.
