Paul Statham is a songwriter/producer and sound artist whose commercial pop compositions have contributed to around 32 million album sales.
These include the lead single 'Here With Me' and the title track 'No Angel' from Dido's US and UK number one album, 1999's 'No Angel' (24 million sales), and two co-writes and productions on Kylie Minogue's international number one album 'Fever' (seven million sales), released in 2001.
Paul has recently written with rock band Simple Minds, including their December 2024 single 'Your Name In Lights' and 'Kill Or Cure' from the top 10 album 'Big Music', X Factor winner Matt Cardle (lead track 'It's Only Love' from top 10 album 'The Fire'), girl band The Saturdays ('Why Me Why Now' from top five album 'Chasing Lights') and contributed songs to two international number one albums.
They include 'Reset' ,an Australian number one album for Tina Arena, alongside co-writing the single 'Acciaio' featured on the Italian number one album 'Made In London' from Italian X Factor and Voice star Noemi.
Paul's electro pop band Peach, formed in collaboration with producer Pascal Gabriel, signed to Daniel Miller's Mute label. Their single, 'On My Own', was featured in the film 'Sliding Doors' and went on to become a US top 20 hit.
He has written with an eclectic range of artists via his publisher Warner Chappell including former Spice Girls Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Rachel Stevens, Natalie Imbruglia and Will Young.
Paul is also known for his long standing seven-album collaboration with goth icon Peter Murphy, including the albums 'Love Hysteria', 'Cascade', 'Holy Smoke' and the top 40 US album 'Deep', as well as the singles 'Cuts You Up', 'All Night Long' and 'Indigo Eyes' among others.
He has also been releasing more experimental/ambient/soundscape music on his own Loki Records including a new album 'Object, No Distance - Distance, No Object' with award winning experimental guitarist Daniel Pennie from the acclaimed Noise In Your Eye project. This was released in December 2024.
Paul has recently joined ICMP as tutor and module leader on the new MA Songwriting module, Songcraft and Production: Process and Practice, as part of the MA Commercial Songwriting and Production course.
He will be releasing a new album with his Dark Flowers project in 2025.
