In the 35 years+ since our establishment, ICMP has developed an exciting international reputation and impressive network of global contacts that help us develop and deliver cutting-edge courses to those studying music in London, Liverpool and Leeds. With around 40% of ICMP students being international, choosing to study music in the UK is a truly global experience.
Arguably the most internationally connected UK music school, ICMP partners with some of the finest music education providers in more than 16 countries. We work closely with a range of prestigious partner schools worldwide, including the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles College of Music (LACM), Belmont University in Nashville and the Vienna Music Institute (VMI).
Through this outward exposure, we help you build your global networking contacts and gain access to outside industry collaborations. We also provide ICMP graduates with opportunities for collaboration, further study and career progression internationally, long after they’ve left ICMP.
Celebrating more than 15 years as one of the world's first international study abroad programmes focusing on contemporary original music, the USC/ICMP Maymester Collaboration is unique. Students form bands, write, rehearse, record, photograph, promote and perform concerts all over London, building musical relationships, experiences, skills and alliances that will last a lifetime.
We also organise exciting field trips. Past opportunities have included visits to Nashville, Tennessee – the world capital of songwriting – where students engaged in a busy schedule, attending lectures and seminars at Belmont University, and co-writing with Belmont students and professionals.
Our students attended a multitude of shows and writers’ rounds showcasing some of the world’s most successful songwriters, such as Matraca Berg, Brett James and Kelsea Ballerini. The trips have led to students making key industry connections, and have contributed to significant international collaboration opportunities. Students also played at legendary Nashville venues including The Bluebird Cafe, and visited the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) – a professional organisation of more than one million songwriters, composers and music publishers.
Additionally, we regularly engage with our partner schools in knowledge sharing and competitions of all kinds – both in-person and online. There’s always something new and exciting on the international horizon for you to get involved in to enhance your education and career!

Nashville Songwriters' Trip
Over the years, we’ve given students the opportunity to travel with us to Nashville to experience the home of songwriting first hand. Our students spent time at Belmont University, learning and collaborating with their students, and attended a variety of songwriting events including visiting the legendary Bluebird Cafe.
Travel Tunes
Travel Tunes is an annual event bringing together music students from across Europe to learn, collaborate and perform. In 2019, ICMP welcomed students from our network of international partner schools to Travel Tunes London, a showcase of live music, networking and collaboration.
NSAI
The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) is a body of creative minds, including professional and amateur songwriters from all genres of music, who are committed to protecting the rights and future of the songwriting profession. The association’s aim is to educate, elevate and celebrate the songwriter and act as a unifying force within the music industry and the community at large.
Industry Engagement
We consistently seek out new partnerships that offer ICMP students unique and exclusive opportunities to engage with the global music industry.
