That’s why we only invest in the highest-quality instruments and industry-standard backline equipment for our students. Partnering with leading suppliers like Marshall, PRS Guitars and Au, we get exclusive access to the latest instruments and technology – and pass it all on to you. From amps and drum kits, to synths and mics, you’ll find it all ready to hire at the Gear Hire desks found on all our campuses – ICMP London Kilburn, ICMP Liverpool and ICMP Leeds. Gear for use on campus and in classes is free of charge, but you can hire for off-site performances and recordings for a small fee and deposit.

Guitars, basses and strings

Choose the guitar that suits your style and technique, with gear from top names such as Fender, PRS, Taylor and MusicMan. With hundreds of guitars available, you'll be able to explore your sound and style on a range of stringed instruments, and can even try out our mandolins, banjos and dobros. With equipment rooms sponsored by the likes of PRS Guitars, Ernie Ball and MusicMan, you’ll have access to the latest, best quality gear from some of the industry’s biggest names.

Amps

With amps from the likes of Vox and Roland – as well as everything from Marshall stacks to Kempler profilers – we have an enviable collection of amplifiers to keep guitarists and bassists busy. Our ICMP Kilburn campus in London in particular features a special room sponsored by Marshall, where you can find some of their very best gear. With so many incredible music partners, the best of the industry is right at your fingertips.

Drums, cymbals and electronic drums

Set the pace for your music with our gold-standard cymbals, drum kits, and electronic drums. With big names like Mapex, Paiste and Natal, you’ll be hard-pressed to find an impressive selection like this anywhere else.

Keyboards, synths and drum machines

For some musicians, it all starts with a seat at the piano – and our keyboards from big players like Yamaha, Roland and Nord will help you get the most from your music. Whether you’re keen to experiment, develop your skills, build an enviable portfolio or just tinker with our industry-leading tech, it’s all here for you at ICMP.

Effects pedals, controllers and interfaces

Our effects pedals are by brands like Boss and Vox, while Audient and Ableton sponsor some of our rooms – giving you an impressive range of digital interfaces and controllers to play with to shape and refine your music. And if you need anything else, simply hire it for free through our Gear Hire service. 

Microphones

If you want a professional sound, you need professional equipment. Our mics fit every recording need, whether you’re capturing ambient sound, vocals or other audio. Since recording and mic techniques are key to many of our courses, you’ll want to immerse yourself in our equipment and roadtest different types and names to find your fit – and we’ve got plenty to choose from, including Shure, Rode and AKG, and a room at ICMP Kilburn in London sponsored by Austrian Audio. Austrian Audio is a leading name in audio, supplying acoustics, noise-cancelling technologies, transducers and more – and suitable for everyone from musicians, singers and performers to engineers and producers.

Equipment discounts

Thanks to our powerful partnerships with industry icons, we’re able to offer the latest releases across instruments, recording equipment and more. Better still, we’ve negotiated some incredible discounts, exclusively for ICMP students, on essentials like earplugs, guitar straps and even mics and headphones to help you build up an enviable array of your own equipment.

There’s so much more to making music than the instruments. We also continuously invest in a range of digital equipment, like MacBook Pro and Zoom mobile recording rigs, PA systems from Samson to Peavey, and percussion instruments – congas, bongos and more. Whatever you need, we have it. And if we don’t? Put in a request and we’ll pull some strings.

How to hire our gear

To get your hands on our fantastic equipment free of charge, all you need to do is swipe your student card at our dedicated Gear Hire desks. Our Facilities team is on hand to showcase and demonstrate our newest gear, so if you need help or advice, just ask. As for any problems with your gear, talk to our team, and we’ll advise on how to repair it as part of our annual Fix-It Week. It’s all to stop equipment going to landfill unnecessarily, helping us do our bit for the planet.

Off-site use

Need to borrow an amp for a gig? Need a PA for an external recording session? Short on an instrument for an upcoming festival? Whatever you need, get it at our Gear Hire desks. For a small fee and deposit, you’ll be able to take a range of equipment off-site, and for much cheaper than the cost of commercial gear hire, too. It’s all to help you make the most of the opportunities that come your way.
