Diploma graduate Diana Hajiyeva (aka Dihaj) represented Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song ‘Skeletons’.
Diana is a producer, musician and singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Baku, Azerbaijan, Diana obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Choral Conducting before studying at ICMP in London, where she also became involved with the local underground music scene, performing with progressive trance trio Looper & Mancus.
After graduating, she launched her band Dihaj as a trio with Diana herself producing and providing lead vocal. Describing their sound as “immersive doom pop”, the group’s 2014 single ‘I Break Again’ was co-written by leading jazz pianist Isfar Sarabsky. In 2015, they released a popular cover of the song ‘Geceler Kechir’ written by renowned Azerbaijani composer Eldar Mansurov and their latest single ‘Complain’ is taken from their forthcoming LP.
Dihaj has played at international festivals across the Netherlands, Lithuania and Georgia and in 2015, she won the Caucasian Music Awards Phoenix as The Debut of The Year.
Talking about her ambitions for Eurovision, Dihaj said: “I want to show the Eurovision’s audience it doesn’t matter how different or alternative you are; you can be heard and seen by audiences all around the world”
