Live in session: Nicole Bullet
Watch our songwriting student Nicole Bullet perform her debut single 'Movie With No Sound' as part of our new Motiv Sessions...
Our songwriting student Nicole Bullet was one of many ICMP talents we invited to record a song for our new Motiv Sessions.
Recorded using our industry partner Shure's Motiv MV88 microphone, the sessions are aimed at showcasing the raw musical skills of our students. Nicole is a new talent to watch, having released her great single 'Movie With No Sound' after winning a scholarship with us for her first year of studies after impressing our recent Songwriters' Circle guest Frank Turner.
Watch Nicole's performance below and meet her in our new interview...
What is your musical project all about?
I'd say my music is all about feelings, whether they be negative or positive. I like to use imagery and evocative language and I've been experimenting with sounds and production techniques.
What is the song you recorded for us about?
The song that I recorded for the Motiv session, 'Movie With No Sound' is my debut single which is doing pretty well. It was featured on an official playlist and is currently at almost 19k streams on Spotify. The song is about how heart wrenching it can be to drift away from someone you love and deeply care about, even though you know they were never good to you anyway.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspirations right now are Lana Del Rey, Halsey, Sufjan Stevens, Troye Sivan but also my fellow students and my tutors.
What drew you to ICMP - and what have you learned about yourself and your music from studying here?
I was first drawn to ICMP because I knew that I didn't want to do anything else in my life other than making music. Some may say that it's reckless to take such a risky path but I'm okay with living on the edge as long as I'm not living in a hole of boredom and unhappiness. Studying at ICMP I get the chance to be around people like me most of the time, and while getting to know and working with other songwriters I learn more and more about myself and who I want to become.
What does the future for you and your music have in store?
Right now, I think I have a clear idea of what I want my music to be like and I'm learning how to achieve that.
