As a musician, performer and songwriter Tyra Ornberg has her own band, Junodef while has also spent the summer of 2024 on the road with Warp Records' Mount Kimbie.

Junodef was formed in 2015 and have enjoyed well-attended gigs and plenty of online acclaim too, releasing their debut EP back in 2023, 'Catastrophical'

The EP was recorded in a remote studio in the Welsh countryside with Arcade Fire and The Smile producer, Joy Stacey, and mixed by legendary metal producer Russ Russell known for his work with Napalm Death and At The Gates.

According to DIY Mag, the release "marries electronic production and haunting harmonies over six tracks which span sapphic desire, social inequality, and the celebration of community".

Alongside her work with Junodef, Tyra has also been busy this summer playing bass as part of the live band for Mount Kimbie. The electronic band has released a series of critically acclaimed records since they formed in 2008.

Commenting on her time at ICMP, Tyra told us in our interview: "My main reason to start studying at ICMP was to get into the music community."

When moving countries you leave a lot of that behind you, so it felt like an important first step to start building that again over here in London. Another reason was that I'm terrible at practicing bass, so studying it would be a way to force me to actually practice and become better. And it worked."

Junodef is now working on new material and looking to record more music again soon.
