Charlotte is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and soundtrack composer who initially came to prominence as guitarist and backing vocalist for alternative rock band Ash.

Since leaving Ash in 2006, she has worked as a solo artist and touring musician for Bryan Ferry, KT Tunstall, Bat For Lashes and Birdy. Charlotte has also been a touring member of NZCA Lines and was Musical Director for South African artist Nakhane.

Commenting on her role at ICMP, Charlotte said:

What I love about being at ICMP is how every tutor has something going on, some exciting project, piece of research or is writing a book about something esoteric or obscure. I find it very compatible with my other work and it’s a really inspiring place to be."

Charlotte's achievements in the industry are considerable, writing the score for director Gavin Rothery's 2014 sci-fi short film 'The Last Man'.

In 2019, she composed an emotional score for the documentary film 'Imogen'. In 2021 she played guitar on composer Frank Ilfman's score for the film 'Gunpowder Milkshake', then in 2022 she contributed to the score for director Peter Strickland's film 'Flux Gourmet'.

In 2021, she was a guitarist for Imelda May's new album '11 Past The Hour' and Natalie Imbruglia's 'Firebird'.

In 2023 she played as part of Birdy's live band for the Portraits tour, and in June 2024 she played in Bat For Lashes' live band for the Dream Of Delphi tour.
