ICMP was delighted to welcome acclaimed singer-songwriter Andrew Cushin for a masterclass where he shared insights on his industry experiences with students.

Music Business Tutor Nick Mander hosted the event who had previously worked with Andrew in his role as Senior A&R at EMI.

Nick worked with Andrew on his debut single which was produced by Noel Gallagher at London's legendary RAK Studios

The event was a Q&A with Andrew where he discussed how he got his big break, recording and releasing music independently and his touring history of playing with the likes of Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, Jake Bugg and Louis Tomlinson.

Andrew also played three songs live, an inspiring experience for the students to witness in such an intimate setting

Commenting on the event, Nick said:

Andrew was very inspiring when telling the students about how he has toured the world and is about to release his second album with virtually no financial assistance from a label or publisher. He has now signed to a bigger label via Warner Music."

"The students were very inspired when hearing the story of how a young artist from Newcastle has already toured the world and is now able to sell out 5,000 capacity venues in his hometown! Several of the students had seen Andrew on tour with Louis Tomlinson and were already fans so it was great to hear his stories up close!"
