Congratulations to ICMP Music Business and Entrepreneurship alumnus Adam Anderson on securing a job as Promoter at Stoke's legendary Sugarmill live music venue.
The venue is one of the UK's best grassroots spaces, having welcomed many artists who have gone on to headline festival including Coldplay, Elbow, the 1975 and more.
Adam studied the Music Business degree and began promoting his own gigs independently while at ICMP.
He was introduced to Kilimanjaro Live Director and Promoter Steve Tilley through ICMP Programme Leader Jamie Johnston. Steve has been responsible for promoting live events by Ed Sheeran and is a director at the Sugarmill.
Adam said:
I met Steve for a coffee, we got on really well and he was looking for someone to bring new ideas and energy at the venue. It's such a prestigious institution in the live music industry and I was really excited to pursue this opportunity."
"It's quite a step up from what I've done already but everything I learned at ICMP has really helped prepare me for it."
Adam's role involves booking touring bands, working with local artists, speaking to press, and trying to get bands to play the venue including Circa Waves.
Jamie said: "Steve is one of the biggest promoters in the live music industry and someone who I have had the pleasure of working on and off with for over 20 years. I knew Adam was promoting, working on developing his own independent promotion company and was very focused so I decided to connect them."
"Adam had the opportunity to meet Steve, they got along and he demonstrated that he's engaged and hungry to progress."
Booking the programming at one of the UK's most important small venues that has seen many major artists pass through over the years is a wonderful job and incredible opportunity to secure after graduating. Well done Adam!"
Congratulations to Adam on his new appointment. Look out for an interview with him about his time at ICMP on our blog.
