ICMP is looking to support the next generation of creative talent with the launch of our new BA Songwriting and Production and BA Songwriting and Artist Development degrees.
The new courses will join our flagship BA Songwriting degree in offering students a comprehensive understanding of creative practice, artistry and production, all viewed through a songwriting lens.
Commenting on the new degrees, Shane Beales, Programme Leader for ICMP's Songwriting Undergraduate courses, said:
These new courses are creative siblings and designed to sit alongside each other in the same way as artist Billie Eilish and her producer/songwriter brother Finneas worked together on their hit material."
"We want the BA Songwriting and Production degree to appeal to those writer-producers who love working with a computer and creating their own beats and tracks."
"Then the BA Songwriting and Artist Development degree is aimed at those writer performers with their own projects - so rappers, MCs, singers and top liners. These courses are designed to respond to the way artists have evolved in line with the latest music industry technologies and innovation."
Collaborative writing camps will be central to both courses, meaning artists and producers will regularly write together.
Students on both degrees will be supported to write 100 songs over the three-year degree. Head to the course pages linked below for full details.
BA Songwriting and Artist Development
This course has been designed especially for artists who write their own contemporary material in genres ranging from rock and pop to UK grime and drill.
Whether you're a solo artist, band frontperson, rapper, acoustic singer–songwriter or something else entirely, you'll be guided and supported by expert ICMP tutors across three years of study.
BA Songwriting and Production
This course has been specifically designed for songwriter-producers.
This degree will help take your writing and production skills to the next level whether you're a beatmaker with an ever-growing sample library, a multi-instrumentalist backing-track creative at home in the studio, or a writer–producer looking to co-write and pitch on other artist projects.
