To celebrate Brent’s year as London Borough of Culture, here at ICMP, we’re inviting local artists to apply for a free eight-week online course called ‘Elevate: Brent Artist Development’.
The course, made possible thanks to funding support from Brent2020, will particularly suit anyone who wants to release their own songs and will give them the tools to realise their dream of a career in music.
In recognition of our diverse cultural community, all Brent and Kilburn artists over the age of 16 – from all genres and musical backgrounds and across a range of different instruments – are invited to apply. Priority will be given to those with an income under £25,000 or in receipt of benefits.
Commencing from 22nd July, students will log on for two hours each Wednesday evening to receive feedback and tips from some of London’s top music professionals, including ICMP Vocal Tutor Erika Footman, ICMP Songwriting Tutor Jonathan Whiskerd, audio engineer Jo Lord, and Rudimental vocalist Brigette Amofah.
Students will explore topics including marketing, songwriting, performance, home recording techniques, music production, gigs and festivals, and more, and will be given weekly assignments and receive one-on-one tutorials to help develop their musical artistry.
ICMP’s Acquisition & Student Events Manager, Terri Cash, who is organising the Elevate programme, says:
This is an amazing opportunity for our local artists to take their musical passion and turn it into a profession. At a time when online learning is so prized, this is the ideal way to celebrate our diverse community and nurture our next big music stars.”
