Music industry expert Eve Horne has supported ICMP MA Creative Music Production students to realise their artistic vision as part of their final projects.

Four students - Paolo Falcone, Georgie Turner, Joshua Milu and Alex Hargreaves - all worked closely with Eve who was a Guest Tutor on the course.

Eve's career has taken her to many different areas of the industry as a songwriter, producer and educator and is the founder of We Are The UNHEARD, an organisation focused on amplifying underrepresented voices and promoting gender equality in the music industry.

Commenting on her experiences, Eve said: "All of the students are phenomenally talented and amazing human beings."

From a technical perspective, I was able to help them with the tracks, the dimensions of their music, the different instrumentation, then where to bring in rises and drops, plugins and effects."

The student projects all explored different creative practices and mediums. These ranged from music production for TV sync to audiovisual music production for live performance in an art gallery and music production as an exploration of queer identities.

Continuing, Eve said: "There was also a different element too where I was able to support the students from a career point of view, to help them realise what their goals for these projects would be and how it would work in terms of their long-term creative journey."

"It was a really amazing two-way connection with all four students. I wanted to give them the confidence for them to realise their respective projects, to help guide it."

"But the fact they were willing to let me be part of their vision, take on my advice and be a part of their journey, it was a real honour. They listened, allowed themselves to be vulnerable and I wish them every success in the future."

Paolo said: "Eve's decades of experience in the music industry were evident in the creative yet practical guidance she gave for my project, all while creating an extremely welcoming and safe environment with her kindness, patience, and genuine interest in myself and my artistic improvement. Overall, having Eve tutor my final project was such a valuable addition to my experience on the course."

Joshua Milu (pictured above) works as a producer, singer, lecturer and painter with his project exploring identity.

He said:

Eve guided me perfectly throughout the process of finishing my Masters in Creative Music Production, her approach was respectful and her guidance was invaluable to me."

Georgie said: "Eve provided unmatched feedback, support, and guidance during and outside of our sessions. She set realistic deadlines and always pushed me to go just a little bit further, while continually encouraging me to believe in myself and my art."

Alex Hargreaves records under the artist name of Stone Forceps and was equally appreciative of Eve's guidance with his creativity and final project.

"Eve provided me with vital technical assistance and mixing advice which allowed me to complete my tracks on time and to a high standard. Even more importantly, she also helped me to feel reassurance and confidence in my own material, which can sometimes be a hard thing to maintain, and as a result of my meetings with her I feel that I was able to turn in a project which I am truly proud of."
