ICMP is delighted to announce that Mercury Prize winning artists Ezra Collective are Ambassadors for a new BA (Hons) Songwriting and Production Scholarship.
The scholarship is now open for applications for students joining ICMP in September 2024 and will cover undergraduate tuition fees for one UK-based student over the degree’s three-year duration.
A course for writer-producers and beatmakers
This course offers ambitious writer–producers the chance to develop their songcraft, collaborate with like-minded creatives, forge industry connections and hone their technical music production skills. Students will create an impressive portfolio of new songs, while learning how to launch a successful career as a songwriter, producer and/or beatmaker.
About Ezra Collective
Ezra Collective are one of the UK’s most vital new bands, a musical force spearheading the jazz revival that saw them winning the Mercury Prize in 2023 for their latest album, ‘Where I’m Meant To Be’. The five-piece band, who were named as Londoners of the Year by Time Out, is led by drummer Femi Koleoso who has also performed with Gorillaz and many more.
As a band, Ezra Collective are all about supporting the next generation of musical talent so it’s fantastic for them to be part of ICMP’s Scholarship this year. Community and role models have been hugely influential for them as they have grown and developed and it’s amazing this initiative will help a writer-producer who might not otherwise have had the chance to kickstart their industry career. They are looking forward to supporting them on their musical journey.
Ace, ICMP's Head of Industry Partnerships and Business Development, said:
It’s fantastic that Ezra Collective are Scholarship Ambassadors. The band are one of the UK’s most energetic new talents, both as performers and in the studio and have done a huge amount to push for equality in the industry. I’m excited to work with them on the Scholarship.”
