The event invited friends, family and the ICMP community to the prestigious space to recognise the achievements of our students. 

Many of the prizes at the event were sponsored by our fantastic music industry partners including Austrian Audio, PRS Guitars and IK Multimedia.   

 

 

As part of his address, Professor Tony Harris, ICMP’s Principal, said:

“The UK creative economy has grown by over 50 percent over the last 15 years. It's now worth £125 billion pounds, £6.7 billion of which is specifically music, the third largest music market in the world. This generates work for hundreds of thousands of musicians, writers, engineers, producers, managers, promoters and hasn't happened by accident. It's because of the talent pool this country nurtures, the talent pool that's sitting in this room today, ready to reap the benefits of these opportunities.” 

Jonathan Whiskerd, ICMP’s Dean, said:

“Congratulations to all those graduating this year. You've all done it in your own way, squaring up to the uncertainty that we deliberately create for you on the ICMP study programmes. That's not easy. Sharing some drafts, even though you hated them, the creative risks you took in the studio and on stage, the bands you formed that perhaps never got off the ground, the projects you launched that ran out of steam, the gigs that hardly anyone came to, that high note you might have gone for but didn't quite get. All of this is vital experience, so let's take a moment to acknowledge that, and acknowledge the resilience that you've cultivated because of it. You've learned a huge amount and this sets you up perfectly for an exciting and creative career.”
