A group of ICMP students visited London's O2 Academy to learn how to engineer a live band as part of a new partnership with the O2 Academy Group.
Second year music production students studying the live sound module visited Islington's O2 Academy to gain invaluable experience working with up and coming band (and ICMP alumni featuring) Judas.
Music production tutor Bill Borez said:
The visit was aimed at taking the students out of the classroom so they can experience how to engineer a live band in a professional working venue environment.
"They had full use of the main room for the day with access to everything from setting up the band to supervised hands on front of house and monitor mixing."
Student Eliot Martig said:
It was a very instructive and informative experience. Prior to the visit, there’s no way I would have felt ready to mix a live gig but the trip certainly answered some questions around venue sound and split mixing systems. Any fears I’d had around live mixing and being overwhelmed by the desk are now in the past.
"Another really nice thing was the fact that the whole experience was also like a private concert just for us students which was really cool. I also enjoyed helping to clear up the stage at the end."
Judas have just completed a UK tour and will be playing at the Isle of Wight and Kendal Calling festivals.
