Yannis Iliopoulos, ICMP’s Associate Teaching Fellow in Music Business & Entrepreneurship, was among the speakers at the Innovation In Music conference.

Taking place at the University of West London in December, Yannis joined many leading researchers and professionals to discuss future trends and topics facing the music industry.

His session focused on his ongoing research into the application of Gift Economy to the administration of Intellectual Property in the creative industries.

The Gift Economy is a concept where services or goods are exchanged without relying on monetary gain.

Commenting on his talk, Yannis said:

I am striving to be part of the so-called ‘kindness revolution’ to show that Gift Economy is a simple but very effective way of creating value and building trust."

I would like to thank the Learning and Development Committee at ICMP and Ken Foreman for the opportunity I had to present my research. Gift Economy is applied from the creator’s point of view as a critical part of the initial phase of their artist development."
