ICMP is delighted to announce that our Queen's Park S6 Studio has been Dolby Certified for the quality of its surround set up and technical specification. 

The certification is a gold-standard for the recording industry and means S6 Studio offers fantastic opportunities for students to hone their skills in a leading studio space with Dolby Atmos. 

Richard Addis, Dolby's Content Services Engineer, visited ICMP to review and award the certification. 

Commenting, Cam Shand, ICMP's Studio and Technical Officer, said: "This studio is used for teaching mixing techniques in Dolby Atmos, which can be done more accurately now we have the certification, and the speakers are calibrated to their specification. The calibration process involves EQ, bass management and time alignment on the speakers." 

Dolby Atmos has been used in cinemas for over 10 years already, but the recent boom in 'music for Atmos' has rendered this studio even more versatile, in that sound for film, TV, and games can be taught alongside music production in this space."

"Few universities have Atmos spaces yet, especially ones that are verified within Dolby's specification."

The studio features a Genelec 7.1.4 speaker system, with an Avid MTRX Studio controlling it all. In this setup, there are four ceiling speakers, four surround speakers, three front speakers and a subwoofer.
