Our Careers and Industry team actively support and nurture all the musical talent to pass through ICMP and are responsible for selecting our weekly #ICMPSpotlight artist.
This week they've chosen to shine the spotlight on BA (Hons) Songwriting alumnus Paul Usher.
ICMP SPOTLIGHT: 2nd July
'PAPER CUPS' BY PAUL USHER
Self-taught pianist Paul Usher released his latest track this month and there is a reason behind it; it's 50 years since the first Pride parade took place.
'Paper Cups' tells a LGBT love story starring cheap wine in paper cups, drinking games and make-shift beds on best friends' floors. Paul takes us back to the start of a love, when it’s not about the things you have, it’s all about just being so into each other that the rest doesn’t matter.
'Paul Usher wonderfully illustrates that nostalgic sense of magic in ‘Paper Cups’, so much do we winder if the song was inspired by anyone special' (The Q Review).
A day after its release, the track received its first radio airplay on The Graham Norton show on BBC Radio 2.
Keep up to date with Paul Usher on Facebook and Instagram.
