Our students will have the opportunity to play in Paris at the final round of the 2019 ICMP/ATLA International Songwriting Contest, the centrepiece of ICMP’s partnership with prestigious international music school Ecole ATLA.
Taking place this Thursday (21st March), 10 ICMP and ATLA music students will perform in the final round of the competition.
Artists will be assessed on melody, harmony and performance by judges from both schools with a winner from each institution chosen on the night.
ICMP students performing include Jesus Correderas, Alfie Memet, Leah Finegold, Frances Murray and Lucia Carmignani.
John Meldrum, Songwriting Tutor at ATLA Ecole Paris said:
The winners will get a professional recording, a video and a concert opportunity thanks to Le Réacteur in Issy-les-Moulineaux. Come one and all and discover their original songs, you will be astonished by their talent and creativity."
Jonathan Whiskerd, ICMP Programmes Manager for BA (Hons) Songwriting and BA (Hons) Creative Musicianship, said:
The ICMP/ATLA International song contest gives our writers the opportunity to experience the competitive side of the profession, within the supportive and nurturing environment of their institution. The process of application, shortlisting, first round performances and the live finals all offer meaningful experience of delivering under pressure, an essential skill for any professional."
ICMP students will get the opportunity to perform as well as network with their French counterparts.
