ICMP’s Head of Songwriting Sophie Daniels is to release a one-off EP as Liberty’s Mother to raise awareness around baby loss.
‘I Can Love You From Here’ is a collection of songs exploring stories of marriage, friendship and parenting.
The lead track was written for her daughter Liberty who sadly passed away in 2011. She performed the song for the All Parliamentary Group for Baby Loss with funds from the release of the EP to be donated to Tommy’s, the baby charity.
Recorded in Franklin, Nashville by producer Michael Bonagura, the country/folk production values serve to reflect Sophie's love of songcraft and storytelling.
Other tracks on the EP include ‘Saving Up For A Rainy Day’, co-written with Nashville’s David Mead, one of John Mayer’s favourite singer-songwriters and ‘Little Men’, written with award-winning songwriter and ICMP tutor Jonathan Whiskerd.
Sophie Daniels commented: "I will never forget sharing the record at the All Party Parliament Group for baby loss in June. By the end of the record, much of the meeting room were in tears and the energy in the room was palpable.
Songs have a unique ability to connect the human spirit, and to share our joys and our pain. I am so pleased that this song, Liberty’s legacy, has the opportunity to bring people together and to help, in any small way, to raise awareness for babyloss and heal grieving hearts."
The EP will be released on September 27th and will be promoted by Tommy’s for Baby Loss Awareness Week 2019.
A launch event for the EP will be held at St Mary's Church, London on 14th October with Sophie performing live.
