Here at ICMP, we are proud to support our community and always look forward to sharing their successes.
Each Tuesday, we present a student or graduate music project, making it our #ICMPSpotlight of the week.
This time we've chosen to shine a light on BossB*FightChallenge, a project involving Bird Trouble, a band that features BA Songwriting alumn Maxie Buchda.
ICMP SPOTLIGHT: 26TH MAY 2020
BOSSB*FIGHTCHALLENGE, FEATURING ICMP BAND BIRD TROUBLE.
A few weeks back, Freya Volk, one of our alumni, asked the ICMP community for help: her sister, an actress, was working on a version of the BossB*FightChallenge videos and was in need of a soundtrack for it. The song Freya was hoping to find had to be "feisty and powerful, ideally by a female-identifying or non-binary artist, maybe even with a feminist message".
Here comes Maxie, an ICMP graduate who studied on our BA Songwriting programme back in 2014. Maxie immediately thought that 'Victim Of Yourself', one of her bands' tracks would work perfectly with this concept.
Maxie then contacted Freya, who decided straight away to pick Bird Trouble's song to accompany the video. This is what Maxie told us about this experience:
They've done an amazing job, very professional. I am so proud to be a part of it. It is amazing what happens when female artists work together!"
The 'Burn This Bridge' EP that the song is part of was written by Maxie as a result of a toxic relationship. The songs that make the EP focus on realization, overcoming and female empowerment.
Maxie is currently working on her solo debut album.
