ICMP's A Cappella Choir has released a new video performance of 'Love Yourself' to celebrate the lifting of lockdown measures in the UK.
We're thrilled to see our students back on-site, collaborating and performing now that lockdown has eased. Our student choir has been performing together virtually for most of the past year so were unsurprisingly eager to create a special performance to share with the world to commemorate this big moment.
The group was formed from students who auditioned and were subsequently selected when it was safe to do so under government guidelines and ICMP's Covid policies.
ICMP tutor James Rose led the group, working with them over a six-week period to produce the video, which has been awaiting an appropriate release date.
Commenting on the performance, James said: "I'm so proud of the remarkable musicality and love that all the ICMP A Cappella Choir members poured into their music, as well as towards each other.
Each Friday rehearsal became a safe, creative space from all the difficulties that the past year has thrown at us. It has been amazing to trace their individual journeys from rehearsal to rehearsal, watching them embrace all the nuances and intricacies of performing vocal music."
"I can’t wait to see where the group goes from here and, in the meantime, we are delighted to share this song we put together for you."
Lucinda Allen is ICMP's Teaching Fellow in Vocals and worked closely with James on producing and directing the video.
She said: "I couldn't be prouder to lead on how we deliver vocals here at ICMP. I love the bold, caring and community environment we have created.
It's projects like this that really celebrate the talent of our students and the care and leadership from our amazing tutors. We hope this project brings a ray of light and hope to your day!"
