ICMP achieves Full Degree Awarding Powers

ICMP is delighted to announce it has reached a huge milestone and been awarded Full Degree Awarding Powers (DAP) to recognise the achievements of our students.

Presented by the Office for Students (OfS) and, in accordance with the Higher Education and Research Act 2017, this means ICMP will have the authority to award certificates, diplomas and degrees up to and including Master’s level qualifications.  

The approval of ICMP as an awarding body follows an intense period of scrutiny carried out by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education on behalf of the OfS.

This brilliant result means ICMP will take full responsibility for the academic integrity and standards of its programmes, and the award of its degree programmes from September 2022.    

Professor Tony Harris, Director and Dean, said:

Receiving this is a marker of the high standards ICMP maintains. The process of achieving DAPs is, quite rightly, extremely demanding and has put every aspect of ICMP’s provision under the spotlight. It’s an outstanding testament to the talent and hard work of all of our students and staff, and the cohesive academic community we have fostered.”

Professor David Baker, Chair of ICMP’s Board of Directors, said: “This is a significant milestone in ICMP’s story, and the result of many years of development, planning and preparation. I would like to offer my congratulations to all students and members of staff, as this has been a truly collaborative endeavour. I am proud to be part of this ambitious institution.”

Joy-Princess Emokpae, ICMP’s Student President said: "I am delighted to hear the great news that as from September 2022, ICMP students will be able to graduate with an ICMP award. Thank you to the students and staff that supported the process in achieving Degree Awarding Powers."

ICMP is grateful to the University of East London (UEL) for a highly successfully and long-standing collaborative partnership. We are committed to continue to closely work with UEL throughout this period of transition to maintain the high standards that have helped us progress so far.
