ICMP’s Head of Songwriting Sophie Daniels is to host a second online event exploring the motivations behind the creative process.
Taking place on 19th January from 3-5pm GMT the event will see Sophie joined by some of the world’s most prominent songwriting experts to discuss their creativity and the reasons behind it.
The online event will also invite attendees to participate and ask questions of the panel.
Commenting previously, Sophie said:
Over the next 12 months, I will be interviewing the international songwriting community, and hosting a series of round table discussion panels, across different types of practice, to discover our motivation for writing songs."
Guests for the roundtable include:
Miranda Cooper | The UK's most successful non-performing female songwriter, working within pop and more recently musical theatre.
Mary Gauthier | Grammy nominated US singer/songwriter and author of the 2021 highly acclaimed book 'Saved By A Song'.
Dr Jo Collinson Scott | Reader in Music at UWS, leading researcher within songwriting/criminology AKA performing artist Jo Mango.
Dr Polly Paulusma | Highly acclaimed UK folk singer/songwriter, music researcher and songwriting tutor at ICMP.
Sophie’s book, ‘Why We Write Songs’, based on the research is due for publication in Spring 2023.
