ICMP was delighted to welcome students from two of our Italian partner schools for the London Music Weekend.
Students from the Hub Academy, in Montecchio Maggiore near Verona, and the Associazione J. Pastorius, situated in Lombardia, visited ICMP for the first time since Covid-19 restrictions were lifted.
Students aged between 13 and 35 were among those who took part, all studying a variety of musical courses and disciplines.
The weekend consisted of technique masterclasses from our tutors Erika Footman (vocals), Malcolm McCarthy (drums), Eoin Walsh (bass) and our own Head of industry partnerships, Ace (Guitar) from Skunk Anansie, alongside Dale Davies from Amy Winehouse's live band.
The students spent their evenings exploring London. Two days were dedicated to technique masterclasses and rehearsals in our Kilburn Campus leading up to a Saturday where they had the chance to play a live show at the Fiddler venue in Kilburn.
The evening was very exciting, with all of the bands made up of students swapping around to perform the whole set.
Ace said: "We were delighted to welcome students from our friends at Italian partner schools, the Hub Academy as well as the Associazione J. Pastorius for the London Music Weekend."
From the masterclasses to the live performances, we're always blown by the energy, enthusiasm and talent on display and this year's event was no exception."
He continued: "I can safely say that all of the students and the Italian tutors were really happy to be able to play in a real live London venue on a Saturday night. The turnout was really good and the support and rapturous applause for the bands was fantastic."
The next trip will be in December when we will welcome back The Hub Academy and friends once more for more of the same.
Well done to everyone involved and watch our preview video for the weekend below:
