Congratulations to ICMP MA Songwriting alumna and tutor Hannah Rose Platt on signing a record deal with independent label, Xtra Mile. 

Hannah is an acclaimed singer songwriter who recorded her debut offering ‘Portraits’ in Nashville in 2015 while the follow up ‘Letters Under Floorboards’ was celebrated for its lyrical story-telling and personal narratives. 

Her new album was written during her time studying ICMP’s Masters in Songwriting as her final project on the programme. 

The record was made with acclaimed music producer Ed Harcourt who acted as Hannah’s supervisor. It was this collection of music that helped Hannah land the deal with Xtra Mile. 

Commenting on signing the deal, Hannah said: "I learned about Xtra Mile when I was asked to open for Frank Turner last summer for two dates in Gloucester. I met several other artists on the label at those events and was really struck by how friendly and warm everyone was. It was clear to me that Xtra Mile is a label that really look after their artists. I put together an electronic press kit including some of the animations, the visuals I’d commissioned and the album masters and sent it on to them."

Luckily the songs captured their interest and they offered me a deal. It really feels like the ‘right’ musical home. They’re very supportive, fair, and are lovely warm people. I feel incredibly lucky, and very grateful!"

I've been unsurprised by the respect and acclaim she gets. She is a brilliant writer and live performer and a completely dedicated artist who consistently works hard and utterly respects her art."

I will not be surprised by any level of success she and her work will one day achieve. The music is at the very highest level for a singer songwriter and truly anything is possible for her starting with this next record."
