The London Music Weekend celebrated its 10th anniversary at ICMP in December 2023.
Organised by Luca Pellizzaro from the Hub Academy, ICMP's partner school in Montecchio in Italy, this event was the largest yet with 50 students attending from six schools.
Students from the Hub Creative (Trissino), Grooveland (Reggio Emilia), Associazione Toti dal Monte (Treviso), Associazione Jaco Pastorius (Mantova), Musicavanguardia (Torino) and Take Five (Citta di Castello) all attended.
Participants had the opportunity to network, perform and gain first-hand experience of London's music scene.
The weekend began with an artist masterclass with ICMP's Andriah Arrindell at the Forum Venue at the Bureau Club in the Design District followed by an open mic night with an ICMP student band led by ICMP BMus Scholarship winner Darius Oon.
Friday included a masterclass with Ace, Erika Footman, Mark Richardson and Cass, from UK rock legends Skunk Anansie.
Students witnessed them playing classic songs together on stage. Band members demonstrated their personal techniques and took questions from the audience.
Students also took part in Live Performance Workshops before another series of masterclasses on Saturday, then a live performance at ICMP's Queens Park venue on the Saturday evening.
The evening was rounded off with completion certificates given to all students attending the weekend.
Ace, ICMP's Head of Business Development and Industry Partnerships, said:
It's an incredible achievement to reach the milestone of 10 years of working together on the special London Music Weekends for Italian students. It's also fantastic to see it build year on year to such a large number of attendees."
"ICMP itself has a large Italian student cohort and it's always a pleasure to support the future talent in Italy, as well as the future students that come to join us after having such a good experience here on campus on these weekends."
This was a special 10th anniversary London music weekend and the biggest one to date.
The next London music weekend will take place in April 2024.
