ICMP welcomed alt-J's Gus Unger-Hamilton to talk to students about his career and experiences with the Mercury Prize winning band.
Gus visited ICMP to share more about his musical life and adventures with our BA in Creative Musicianship students.
alt-J, who also include Joe Newman and Thom Sonny, have released four albums to date and have sold more than two million albums.
The group broke through in 2012 with 'An Awesome Wave', their Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello Award winning debut record.
Dave Evans, BACM Programme Leader, said:
Gus came in to talk to our third year students as part of their Professional Practice module. He talked about his journey into the industry and his creative processes with the band."
"The students found it super inspiring and some great discussions took place on the back of their questions."
alt-J have headlined many prestigious venues including the O2 Arena, London and Madison Square Garden, New York, as well as numerous festivals across the globe.
Their latest album, 'The Dream', was released in 2022 and was inspired by stories and tales of Hollywood and true crime.
Gus' visit to ICMP was presented in conjunction with the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC), the UK trade body representing the rights and interests of music artists.
The FAC is a not-for-profit organisation, serving a diverse, global membership of creators at all stages of their careers.
