ICMP's MA Songwriting alumnus Luke Smith has shared a new live show online as his Frank Foucault alter-ego.
'Frank Foucault: Live' is now available to watch on YouTube, having been filmed at Just The Tonic's Big Caves venue in Edinburgh during the 2023 festival.
Commenting on the process of making the album, Luke said: "It was really hard. I have a tendency of always trying to overstretch myself creatively. I wanted to capture the live act in a way that would feel dynamic and exciting for an online audience."
"So I used a mix of backing tracks and overdubs to arrange and produce the album with elements that the live audience wouldn't have been able to hear. "
I also, for some reason, wanted to edit the whole thing myself. That was probably the hardest part. It's all worth it though, because I'm so proud of how it's turned out."
The release was recorded as part of Luke's performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2023.
Previous projects from Luke as Frank Foucault include the Serious Musicians podcast, a collaboration between Frank and a variety of stand-up comedians invited to write an original piece of music.
