Congratulations to ICMP MA Songwriting alumna Tricia Duffy on winning a Women in Podcasting Award for her podcast, 'In Ten Years Time: How to Live a Creative Life'.
The series won the award for Best Arts & Design Podcast and explores the power of long-term planning with small daily steps to enable everyone to find a creative balance that works for them.
Tricia hosts the show and uses her experiences living a creative life as the inspiration. She has distilled thousands of hours of research into the podcast to encourage anyone who wants a better creative balance to embark on a similar journey.
Commenting, Tricia said:
'In Ten Years Time' is the resource I was looking for when I set out on a journey to change the creative balance of my own life."
"I wanted to create something aimed specifically at people in mid-life and our philosophy encompasses a number of specific things: first that it is never too late to learn or master a craft, second that long-term planning via a ten year plan coupled with small daily steps can empower us, and, third that reframing social expectations around success is good for our long-term health."
"I had a couple of false starts with the podcast and even wrote 15,000 words of a book in the last two-three years, but this year all the stars seemed to align and I just knew it was the right time to record the first series."
I have to thank ICMP in part for the confidence to bring the idea to life, because doing a masters (in any topic, although mine was in Songwriting) really improves your research skills and critical thinking which is an important part of the content I create."
Jennifer Henczel, Women Podcaster Network Founder, said: "This year's awards reflect the incredible bond between podcasters and their audiences."
These women have built strong, engaged communities around their shows, and it's heartwarming to see their listeners show their support in appreciation and recognition."
With Tricia's podcast, each series is split across six episodes united by an overarching theme. The first series addressed the 'In Ten Years Time' philosophy and what it means to live with creative balance. The second series has a theme of 'overcoming' while the research for the third series has a theme of 'amplifying'. Each series has just one carefully selected interview.
Tricia said: "The next series comes out in January 2025, but I would recommend anyone who hasn't heard it yet start from episode one of the first series and listen in order."
"So far I've interviewed photographer Richard Cranefield about pivoting to creativity from grief after the death of his wife, in the second series I chatted to Sara Johnson author and disability consultant about limitations and in the next series I am honoured that former ICMP student and songwriter SATCH has agreed to be my guest."
