New online magazine show Beneath The Radar has launched championing ICMP talent and presented by MA in Music Business alumna Sherry Sahayaraj (pictured above).
The project, led by Dr Neil March, Music Business Module Leader on the MA Music Business, BA Live Events Management and BA Music Marketing courses at ICMP, was born during Covid-19 lockdowns.
He started a similar show with video, live clips and interview content but other projects eventually took priority. This re-brand has been inspired by Neil working with alumna Sherry.
On the origins of the show, Neil said: "I started working with Sherry once she finished her MA at ICMP and we started getting into filming a lot of video content."
I was watching a video we'd recorded for social media where she was teaching me phrases in Tamil and I suddenly realised what an amazing presenter she is. That gave me the idea to relaunch the show with a new name with Sherry as main presenter and to mix videos, live clips and interviews with other fun features."
Romanian singer-songwriter Violet Alt (ala Iulia-Cristina Balan) who recently graduated from ICMP, alumnus James Numbere and a band featuring various members of ICMP's community, Coming Up Roses, all feature in the first episode alongside Neil's own project, The Music of Sound.
Commenting on the show, Neil said:
We want it to engage the independent music community (artists, fans, entrepreneurs etc.) but we are also hoping our social media reach will enable us to attract more audiences from outside the UK too."
"If it works, it could be a really good showcase for emerging music talent and a chance for artists to have a platform to reach new audiences."
Alongside his work at ICMP, Neil is a broadcaster, gig promoter and a moderator and reviews writer for Fresh on the Net, the platform owned by music and broadcasting legend Tom Robinson.
The first episode of Beneath the Radar has been released and a second is expected to be released in August.
