The ICMP a cappella choir have put together and released a new video to showcase the exceptional student talent at ICMP.
Students were invited to take part in auditions for the choir, then selected to join by Lucinda Allen, ICMP Teaching Fellow in Vocals and James Rose, acclaimed arranger and producer known best for his success with vocal group ‘Accent’.
After hard work rehearsing, the choir performed an a cappella version of the song ‘Evergreen’ by the artist ‘Yebba’ in a video organised by James and Lucinda.
Commenting on the performance, James said: "I'm so very proud of my ICMP a cappella group family.
“I really feel that this music video encapsulates the commitment, spirit and talent each and every member gave to the group, from rehearsing to performing to recording. We hope that you enjoy the video!"
Lucinda said:
I feel extremely privileged to work with both talented staff and enthusiastic and committed students from ICMP on this project. I am so proud of what our amazing singers created but also the enjoyable journey we had getting there.”
The full list of performers includes Anya Hussain, Janetta Ivanova, Francesca Guerra, David Ventimiglia, Jack Stewart, Sultan - Olushegun Alabede Ososanya, James Tatman, Paul Reichert, Chloe Choffray, Ward Firend, Carolina Ramos and Kaisha McCalla.
The song was recorded by Sean Copson with arranging, mixing and production from James Rose. Special thanks to A cappella academy in the US, for sharing James’s special arrangement.
Commenting on the experience, Kaisha McCalla, MMus student, said: “The whole process was really fun and right from the audition, Lucinda made me feel comfortable. Rehearsals became the highlight of my week, it was such good fun and I met a great bunch of people across different year groups and courses at ICMP.”
James Tatman, BA Creative Musicianship student, added: “Through the audition to the final performance we were all challenged as singers thanks to James’ excellent and complex arrangements, but the encouraging environment meant that it was all a fun challenge rather than a task.”
“The best thing about the choir was that no matter what we were singing we were able to have a good time and a laugh. We took it seriously but there was also a solid community and friendly vibe.”
Congratulations to all involved - it sounds phenomenal!
