The ICMP Choir and ICMP a cappella group TrueTones have celebrated their reunion as live performers with a number of events across London.
The choir performed at the Music Declares Emergency event at the London Tate Modern ahead of the COP 26 Climate Conference in Glasgow. This performance was part of a mass sing-along to highlight the importance of tackling the climate crisis.
December saw the choir collaborating with Praise Music Factory culminating in a Christmas Concert at the Royal Academy of Music with leading Gospel artist Tiwa King.
TrueTones, led by ICMP tutor James Rose, has also been busy. They performed at events including ICMP’s Awards Ceremony and other festive singing appearances in the local community during the Christmas period.
Lucinda Allen, Teaching Fellow in Vocal Studies, said: "I am incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of both our ICMP choir and our a cappella group, along with their passionate leaders. These groups are a beautiful part of creating the culture of singing and community spirit that we embody at ICMP."
Whether it be a safe space for students to meet others and sing or geek out and dig into the details of a soaring harmony, our students have certainly thrived being back together! More exciting things to come!"
Barbara Amoakohene, ICMP Vocals Tutor, said: "ICMP Voices Choir, led by myself and assisted by Sully Gravity, is an invaluable space for members of our community to be able to come along and sing some modern and classic tunes whilst making lifelong friendships and connections."
The ICMP Voices Choir is a great space for the ICMP community to come together and explore performance through the individual and collective voice. And the best thing about us is… you don't have to be a vocal student to join in the fun. All are welcome!"
James Rose, Vocal Arrangement Tutor and TrueTones Leader, said: "I always have incredible fun directing the ICMP Truetones a cappella group."
All the members consistently amaze me with their musicality, friendship and creativity, despite these challenging few years we've all had. They perform tricky arrangements with ease and spirit, carving their own sound in the a cappella space. I'm excited for what lies ahead for them!"
All students are welcome to come and join the ICMP Choir which meets every Thursday 7-8.30pm during semester time.
The vocal a cappella group TrueTones auditions for new members in September each year, so more details to follow for the next academic year.
