From Stormzy to Sam Smith, LaSharVu have worked with some of the biggest music industry success stories of recent times and we were delighted to welcome them for a masterclass.
The trio are - LaDonna Harley Peters, Sharlene Hector, Vula Malinga - three of the UK’s most respected vocalists.
As independent backing singers, they’ve performed live with some of the world’s most popular artists artists ranging from Sam Smith to Mary J Blige, Lalah Hathaway and Rahsaan Patterson to Corinne Bailey Rae and Emeli Sande, Alicia Keys and Mark Ronson.
As an artist trio, the group released their EP 'Honey' towards the end of 2017 to great reviews.
The class, held on Tuesday 16th January, explored how they started out in music, their industry experiences and tips on how to sustain yourself as a musician.
Commenting on how to develop as a backing vocalist, LaDonna said:
Music is the kind of thing where you can always learn something new, even when you’re just around someone who has different influences and different opinions. It helps you grow by hearing something in a totally different way."
The session was one of our busiest yet and we wanted to thank the group for coming in and treating our students to such a special evening. Watch our video interview with the group for their tips and advice on how to succeed in the music industry below.
Our next masterclass will take place on Tuesday 23rd January with Ellie Goulding’s musical director Joe Clegg. Joe will be hosting a session on how to use technology as an instrument.
